WP5: Awareness of sustainable water and wastewater
This fifth workpackage is aimed to implement
the transfer of information and know-how.
Task 5.1 - Video production
The CD/DVD is a simple and cost-effective
tool for the transfer of information and know-how. It gives the
user the opportunity to select from a wide variety of topics in
a very short time. The CD aims at promoting public awareness and
commitment of the population to act as a partner in the local water
management plan. It intends to address the educational field in
the beneficiary countries at two different levels whereby, the user
will be able to choose among four languages (German, English, French,
Arabic). The two levels will deal with different tools of the water
technology at the:
a) Pupil/student level
b) Expert level (including teachers and university staff).
The CD/DVD will be divided into two main parts. The
first part will present the already existing developments and know-how
in the field of innovative water technologies in Northern Europe.
The second part will present the Appropriate Technology
for the beneficiary countries based on:
· the local conditions, taking into consideration, the social,
cultural and religious particularities
· the traditional management of the scarce water resources
in these countries, and
· the modern water technologies which have been developed
in the last decades.
Topics of the CD/DVD:
Part 1 will be concerned with the available technologies
in Northern Europe. The fbr has many good practical examples and
wide experience through its 500 members. We plan a maximum of 30-minutes
video spot which will be accompanied with computer animation and
tricks in order to simplify some of the more difficult technical
aspects. This presentation will deal with:
· Water consumption and water-saving measures
and installations
· Decentralised waste water treatment systems (e.g. constructed
wetlands, membrane reactors)
· Rainwater harvesting and infiltration including rainwater
treatment to drinking water quality
· Greywater reuse
· New sanitation technologies such as the separation of black
and greywater including nutrient and energy recycling.
The video spot will also show projects and experiences
from different sectors beginning at the household level and moving
on to bigger living complexes over to hotels and the industrial
sector.
Each topic will be supplemented with selected literature
(pdf-files) and educational aids (e.g. PowerPoint presentations).
Part 2 also plans a 30-minutes video spot on
the appropriate technologies for the beneficiary countries and will
be first produced when the initial results of the pilot plants in
these countries are available. It will also be supplemented with
pdf-files and PowerPoint presentations.
